December 13, 2021 - As most of you are aware, NY Gov. Hochul has instituted a mandate for all indoor businesses like Antipasto's requiring us to choose between one of two COVID protocols. We understand that no matter what approach we choose some of our patrons, many of whom we count as friends, will have preferred the other option. We are hoping that this situation is temporary, and we may reevaluate as the winter of 2021-22 plays out.
One option is to require all staff and customers to wear a mask when not "physically eating or drinking." This is slightly different (and more restrictive) than the previous 2020 mandate, which allowed anyone who was seated to remove their mask. The second option is to allow only those who have been vaccinated to enter the restaurant. We have chosen to start things out with the second option. Vaccination rates in the Clifton Park area (CP, Rexford, Ballston Lake, Saratoga Springs) are among the highest in Saratoga County, with between 78-88% of residents 18+ having been fully vaccinated, and 85-96% having received at least one dose (as of 12/13/2021). Our entire staff is fully vaccinated, and going with the first option would require us to ask them to mask up for the duration of their work shift. Additionally, our vaccinated guests would be required to wear a mask for most of their visit.
We hate that we have to choose at all, but it is what it is. The pandemic has been tough on many families and businesses, and our restaurant is no exception. Hopefully things will return to normal sooner than later. We politely ask that you direct any frustrations with the mandate to the Governor's office or your local state representative.
For our unvaccinated patrons (and we understand there are many for a variety of reasons), we are happy to fulfill to-go orders and bring your meals out for curbside pickup until Gov. Hochul's mandate expires. If you have many questions/comments, please email us at [email protected].
